• In 1909 the Pyrene Company of Delaware started manufacturing small brass refillable fire extinguishers for vehicles and home use. In 1914 the company expanded to London and as the years past Pyrene placed factories across the US, Canada and the British Isles. The rapid growth was due to requirements that industrial vehicles, military vehicles and many offices have an extinguisher at hand. During WWII, many ships, planes and jeeps were fitted with these extinguishers.
• The "V" in the serial number on this extinguisher denotes a manufacturing year of 1946
