Died on duty.
• George was sent to the Halifax International Airport to pick up the Halifax Fire Chief who was returning from a trip. There he had a heart attack and was taken to the Victoria General Hospital where he died.
• In 1917 George was a call-fireman on No1 motor engine when he enlisted in the military and served with the Princess Louise Fusilliers at the outbreak of the war. He served as home duty.
• Dogs name was Mitsy, one of five donated to the Halifax Fire Department by the Olands Family.
